- Thread-topic: AW: [chrony-users] chronyd: Can' Synchronize WHY ?
Hi all,
> First the diagnosis, then the cure.
OK, the measurements:
1) PC9, having 4 sources: 3 WAN: WAN-IP1, WAN-IP2, WAN-IP3; local LAN: "su-server3" (virtual WinXP)
Results: frequent reselection between all 4 sources together with "can't synch", but most often between
WAN-IP1 and WAN-IP3
2) PC6, having 3 sources: WAN: WAN-IP1, WAN-IP3; local LAN: "su-server3" (virtual WinXP)
this PC is special as the "WAN"-IPs are reachable by LAN, as the PC6 sits at the same router
as the WAN-IP sources, so we just have the delay of the router
Results: frequent reselection between all 3 sources together with "can't synch", but most often between
WAN-IP1 and WAN-IP3
3) PC3, having only 1 source: LAN-IP3
Results: no source reselection (of course), no "can't synch": chrony working stable with application
4) PC4, having 3 sources (all WAN): WAN-IP1, WAN-IP2, WAN-IP3
Results: frequent reselection between WAN-IP1 and WAN-IP3 with "can't synch"
5) PC18: having 3 sources (all LAN): LAN-IP1, LAN-IP2, LAN-IP3
Result: frequent reselection between LAN-IP1 and LAN-IP2 together with "can't synch", LAN-IP3 has
higher stratum (5)
6) PC19: having 2 sources (all LAN): LAN-IP1, LAN-IP3
Results: no reselection, no "can't synch": using LAN-IP1 all the time, as LAN-IP3 strum is higher (5),
chrony working stable with application
I see that each log archive is quite big (200k...500k) so is it OK if I post them all or partly to this ML ?
Regards,
Thomas
