Even pankso screw up updating mfpr yesterday. He didn't update the mfpr-dev file to same version has mfpr. A check would be nice in case of conflict version between main version and WANTED version. That way i will tell you what is wrong instead of the bug setting there for like 3 months after stable release.

One thing I found while writing receipts - sometimes software needs only -dev, and sometimes only base package.
So automatically installing -dev is not needed.
