Hmm.. ironicly or not, every DIGI/MIDI_[driver] still has a 
DIGI/MIDI_DRIVER_[driver] companion define that's only defined when 
there's support for the driver. Within alunix.h anyway.. haven't checked 
other headers. Doesn't seem to be that way for other drivers though.
