This is plainly wrong.

So, if Microsoft says jump from the penthouse you'll do it, no?

I don't think so.
And what if somebody finds the DirectX port limits something, you'll ask for
dropping it?

1) Who cares about it?
2) Show me how can I run an Allegro application compiled for Windows and put it
in a machine that have 8 Mb of disk space and 8 Mb of RAM.

I don't see your point. I could say: Windows is full of bugs an a disaster as a
development platform, but I won't ask for dropping Windows support.
I think the only advantage that Allegro have over other libraries is the huge
number of platforms supported.
For a lot of tasks DOS is fast, cheap and small.
