Assuming that Allegro 6 comes out in 6-7 years, then I wholeheartedly agree! 
Allegro 6 will most likely be API compatible with 5 anyway, so DOS people 
won't be missing much appart from features which won't be available to them 
anyway.

DOS stays in Allegro 4, doesn't get the 'nice' features in Allegro 5. We can 
discuss Allegro 6 when the time comes :)
