I am not sure about it. Only in portage media-sound is 337 packages. And it is
143 packages in media-sound in the overlay. Not all have GUI, but it still do a
lot of packages.

Also, for what I understand, it is 3 main categories for multimedia:

Audio
AudioVideo
Video

So, Audio is not a sub-category of Sound & Video

By FDO standards, we can do supplementary categories with the prefix "X-" and
it is categories that can fit in every main category

I will suggest to add a few categories in Audio:

Player (allready in FDO)
X-Rhythm
X-Synth
X-Effect
Engineering (stuff as qjackctl, glash, jaaa, qmidiroute)
And maybe even X-Sampler

The problem with only the original subcategories come when you have a lot of
audio related software: the menu is a huge mess.
