I've done a quick fix please test:
it's masked so do first:
echo "sys-process/rtirq -*" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
emerge =rtirq-20060819-r1

and report if it's working

it worked! the output:

rambazamba proaudio # rc-config restart rtirq
Restarting init script
* Caching service dependencies ... [ ok ]
rtirq.sh: start [softirq-timer] pid=5 prio=99: OK.

rtirq.sh: start [i8042] irq=12 pid=340 prio=59: OK. [ ok ]

Is it a very crude thing for this to happen, I mean in terms of the setup of my machine?
Anyway, thank you very much for the fix and have a good night,

Karsten

great, but the fix didn't set both pids,
now hopefully fixed so please remerge rtirq-20060819-r1
and post the output

good night
Frieder
