Nope. It offers me an XFCE session and the default session. Neither
mentions Wayland.

Neither command produces any result.

So I conclude tentatively that I am not running Wayland on that
machine. I'll ask on the Debian User list how to tell if one is running

Does anybody read signatures any more?
