That's how it works for me on Mac. I've never used the shortcut before but since I feel I often have to "find the edges" before mouse capturing becomes accurate I might start to now when I know about it ;)

(I have noticed the mouse capturing doesn't release in 1.7 as it used to in 1.6.2 when jumping to/from the debugging terminal - might be similar to the GP description of window areas)
