In the examples there is this:
al_set_shader_sampler(shader, ALLEGRO_SHADER_VAR_TEX, bmp, 0);

I'm guessing that's a remnant from the initial development of the addon when what I said wasn't true, it doesn't do anything productive now (ogl_flush_vertex_cache and d3d_flush_vertex_cache both overwrite that value). I've removed those calls.
