The way things have been dealt with from the beginning leave much to be
desired, and this sure doesn't help matters. If I hadn't spoken up peter would
have just replaced the whole thing without anyone asking ::)
Fine. Feel free to remove all my work. Don't make a new api that will be
easier to work with, especially for new coders. No we don't need to evolve
anything at all, it just needs to be more of the same. Trying new things ==
bad. Obviously.
