I'm using ALSA 9. But the reason yourpatch did nothing for me was because
Allegro continued to use the 4.1.14 ALSA module, not because there was a
problem with your patch.
In fact, switching to the CVS modules fixed the problem, so your patch is,
I think, unnescessary.
