The gfx_capabilities flag idea sounds a bit strange to me. Doesn't that
global var hold accelerated capabilities? That has nothing to do with
windowed modes IMHO. The last discussion about this topic ended with a patch
that I posted sometime ago, that added a new "windowed" boolean var in the
gfx driver structure, and added GFX_AUTODETECT_WINDOWED and
GFX_AUTODETECT_FULLSCREEN... This patch never got applied so far, because of
the possible set_gfx_mode() rewrite; personally I've worked on that
function, and I don't see how a rewrite would make it cleaner, keeping its
various functionalities at the same time (looking at the possible config
file, autodetecting, managing GFX_SAFE, etc.).
