oops! i did a grep search in djgpp's include catalog to find that there were
no int16_t typedefs... so don't use the new iso types. i'm quite surprised
about this. i've always thought djgpp were following posix and ansi/iso c
standards like unix gcc does, but now i stand corrected. well, modifying
sourcecode in the unix branch should at least be safe...
