Yes, it is an option. And many dns servers do not supply it. And I assume that
you have to code those into the DNS server -- it does not go looking for them
itself.
It is also pretty "non-linux"-- ie, one program to accomplish one task. Those
options really look like someone's pantry-- ie stick in anything that someone
might be interested in. Anyway we have gone off track. AFAIK chrony nor Linux
boot do not supply those informations to the respective programs without some
helper program ( which the OP seems to want to be hard coded into chrony).
