Oh come on Bill, STOP STOP STOP.
You have no clue what you are talking about, and you make subscribers unsubscribing in disgust.
(and others rolling on the floor laughing :-)
There is no DNS involved, it is a DHCP option.
And YES, many routers support that option.
They run an NTP (sometimes SNTP) service and offer time to LAN clients that are
interested in it.
And capable network admins admins set it up in their dhcpd config.
The original poster is aware of that and want to use that.
Stop denying that such a thing exists and is useful.
And I already explained how it fits together in at least the Debian distribution, probably
others. The "sourcedir" directive in chrony provides the hook.
(in older distributions you will often find that a script /etc/dhclient-exit-hooks.d/ntp copies
the chrony.conf to some temp location, adds server line(s) for the received NTP server
addresses, and (re)starts chrony with the supplied config file)
