Before buying hardware I want to make sure: will chrony
will measure and correct for the frequency error and long-term drift in the
OCXO using connected NTP servers?

It will measure the frequency offset relative to NTP sources or other
refclocks, but it will not correct it or do anything interesting with
it. It cares only about changes in the frequency to stabilize the
system clock as if you replaced the XO on the motherboard.

If so, how will I monitor this frequency
error to make sure the process is happening properly?

The frequency offset will be visible in the sourcestats report. The
phase offset will be moving between 0 and 1 second.

Thank you very much, this seems to be what I want! Is the time period over which the OCXO is assumed stable controlled by minsamples/maxsamples?

Stephanie.
