is balanced and the integrated amp (hitachi HA 4500) I own is not and that's why I am hearing the noise through it and not the headphone amp.

SOLVED. I just thought I'd add that I've tried another power amp and it seems to be working without the noise/interference I was getting from the other amp. I thought it was strange I wasn't getting any from the headphone amp. Anyway, sorry for the inconvienience and thanks for the help. Kind Regards, Nicholas
