never heard of Linux not requiring a partition table.
But maybe for IDE it supports the "super floppy" format, just like HDDRIVER
does. This format does not have an MBR, but is really exotic.
AFAIK it's not so uncommon for memory cards to contain just a single
partition, without partition table. I think EmuTOS also supports such
things.
With memory cards being nowadays magnitudes larger than hard disks used
with original Ataris, I think calling them <whatever> floppies, is a bit
misleading. :-)
Strangely, I think that I already posted all this information some months
ago ;-).
It's possible, but that info may have been over too many mails...
Btw. I added "--scsi-ver" option to Hatari, but "--scsi-ver 2" did not
change anything. Next I'll try whether adding some kind of partition
table would help.
