Yes, of course. I booted into desktop, and opened drive A. Then i activated
fdc trace in the debugger. Back in the desktop, i tried to view the contents
of NEWDESK.INF, getting a read error.
BTW there is a funny bug in TOS (also in older versions): when the critical
error handler is called and displays the alert box, the mouse is still hidden.
That makes it quite difficult to hit the "Cancel" button.
