thanks for your updated patch and your detailed tests, but I think I 
won't have time to wait for validation to include it before 1.8

With summer, it's hard to find time to work on Hatari ; people are in 
holidays, so it's not easy to validate these changes (and I don't use 
char conversion in my folder, so I can't tell whether it's OK or not) 
and making the release take some time too, and I'm not sure I will have 
time to do it after next week (considering I expected to release 1.8 
around may/june, it's already late)

So, I'd rather postpone your utf-8 changes to hatari 1.8.1, I think 
there should be an update around september, this will leave more time to 
test this and other possible changes without any rush.


I will try to prepare the release this evening or tomorrow.
