Hi,
I found two messages;
https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/hatari-users/2012q1/000031.html
https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/hatari-devel/2012q1/000590.html
Reprinted below.
The solution to the problem is to NOT use Linear mixing:
Hatari > Sound > Linear
USE:
Hatari > Sound > Table
I'm proposing to eliminate the erroneous 'Linear' mixing option,
as this would be an improvement.
Sincerely,
David

The DMA sound begin about 40s into the tune. Apart from the obvious
YM-emulation errors, the DMA is mixed much too high.
The song recorded is "On Behalf of th Queen" by 505. The song can be
downloaded here:
http://sndh.atari.org/sndh/sndh_lf/505/DMA/On_Behalf_Of_the_Queen.sndh
And it can be played with for example this player:

coding bbs today:
"STE DMA sound is QUITE a bit louder than YM sound in Hatari that on
the real machine, and instead of having the users complain about my
music, it'd be nice to at least warn them :-)"
