Well an options/flags parameter is a good idea. In that, a maximum
frame skip could be defined that the back end is allowed to apply when
the image is lagging behind the sound.

As for configuration, my idea was to either punt it to allegro5.cfg
or add a create_video function with a flags/options parameter.
