I've been running a Google mail list for several years, its very simple to use. Is there any objection to google? One does not need a gmail or Google account to be on that list.

I don't know anywhere else that could host the mailing list. Doing it on our own server feels like too much work when it inevitably breaks down. And not much point moving everything except the list IMO.

I think the main technical issue is where to host the mailing list
(assuming we want to move it off SF as well). Otherwise, it's just a
matter of effort that doesn't really have that much payoff or practical
motivation. I'm ok with doing it, but I don't want to be the one to do it.
