It seems to me that if that were the reason then putting the shader code in the platform agnostic code would be logical.

I didn't consider it very long, so which ever way works is fine.
We can always change it.

I think, if you don't mind, I'll try using the shader API. I just looked at the prospect of doing the HLSL code and I felt like I'd just be reimplementing what the shader API already wrapped.
