Here's a patch that makes the setting only stick while the cursor is in the Allegro window. Once it moves out it reverts to the original X speed. When it moves back in, the user setting is restored.
Heh, that reminds me of this puzzle game where you had a ball that bounced around and would sometimes pass over a square that would make it speed up or slow down.
Should be fun when someone developing makes it really fast and then crashes :-x
