And I've done just that. Here are the results...

Windows 2000 / Cygwin: No problems

Windows 2000 / MSVC6 (with Cygwin): The same warnings as with Windows 98 / MSVC (with DJGPP)

However, one thing I've noticed about fix.sh: fix.bat includes separate options for MSVC6, MSVC7, and MSVC8, whereas fix.sh is just MSVC. Do the extra options in fix.bat that are MSVC7 or MSVC8 specific do anything that would be useful in a UNIX-like environment (like Cygwin)? The MSVC6 Allegro builds fine under Cygwin, but I would recommend that someone tests building Allegro for MSVC7 and MSVC8 using Cygwin. Also, has anybody tested with MinGW (both with and without MSYS) (both the MinGW build and the MSVC build)?

Here's a thought about installing the MSVC6 debug DLL. Would it be a good idea to copy accross alld42.ilk and alld42.pdb from allegro\lib\msvc to the same directory as alld.dll on 'make install'? This will enable the debugger to step inside the internals of Allegro when debugging a DLL-build of an Allegro program.

As for the library itself, the crash-on-CTRL-ALT-DEL bug has been fixed (thanks Matthew), but the key_shifts bug remains (but I don't think that's likely to be fixed any time soon so I woudn't call that a showstopper).

PS. I have changed the e-mail address that I want to have used in the AUTHOURS file - The bit before the @ sign should now be ae-a-alleg2 (it's similar to the existing address, just add a 2 to the end of the username). Could you please do this in the 4.2 and 4.3 branches?

PPS. From Sunday, I will be on holiday so won't be around for testing further 4.2.1 pre-releases (also, I'm trying to get a pre-release of Chickens out before I go, so I won't have much time to test new Allegro releases).
