I still think it'd be easier to translate `...' to whatever else you want
rather than put in "..." and translate that to `...'.

Actually looks like a bug to me.

Actually, it's a must. printf(`Hello world!\n') just doesn't make sense.
I missed part of the discussion leading up to this, so I'll need to ask:
did you change anything in the CVS version of the ._tx code to remove `...'
style quoting? If so, I think that should either be reverted or makedoc
fixed to do proper quoting in all cases (the latter being obviously the
best solution in the long run).
