Being away this period is not recommended as you get flooded by AD 
mails... not that this is a bad thing at all!

Well, I already expressed my thoughts on #allegro some time ago on this 
topic. Basically I'd prefer a more radical approach, but I understand 
that this is not doable with so few active developers. So the direction 
to follow is a forced one to me.
Creating the new API coexisting with the old one may prove to be a 
show-stopper for major changes though, and this is what worries me the 
most. I hope I'm wrong.

Oh, I'm all for an official release ASAP supporting MacOS X; this is 
long overdue, be it 4.0.4 or 4.2.0.

I'm leaving again for vacation tomorrow, and I'll be back after the
