Thomas, just a little feedback:
I tried your original patch, but the sound was fuzzy, perhaps like the
buffer was underflowing. It seemed to me that buffer sizes in samples
and buffer sizes in bytes were being confused. Mind you, when I tried
fixing it I only made it worse, so it's just a guess. I'll try again
when you post another patch.
