Did you intend the intermediate version (which has only been renamed,
not changed) to be official? If so, I think this is a bad idea, because
nobody wants to update their code twice. IMHO the best would be to make
eveyrthing in steps (so that developers can help testing it), but keep a
big red warning sign on each of the intermediate steps (so that there is
no risk for people using Allegro to download them unless they are 100%
sure they know what they are doing), and not release any wips before the
CVS version has been both renamed and had its behaviour changed and we
are all happy with it.
