[AD] problems with X fullscreen mode

I'm sorry to report more problems with 3.9.40 WIP, but I would like to
know what's causing this. I'm not sure this is a bug in allegro. I've
reported this before but nobody could reproduce it then. Problem has
persisted though.

I'm trying to run the demo game, selecting X fullscreen graphics mode.

as a normal user:

> [hein] /usr/local/allegro/demo :-) demo
> Error setting 8bpp graphics mode
> Can not grab mouse

This is the problem I've reported before. The graphics mode switch
WORKS (I can see it happening) but it seems the mouse error stops the
program. 

as root:

> [hein@xxxxxxxxxx demo]# ./demo
> Error setting 8bpp graphics mode
> Can not set video mode

The graphics mode switch fails. I think it's trying to use vga which I
didn't compile in. Not sure.

as root, after explicitely setting XWFS as the graphics driver in
demo/allegro.cfg :

> [hein@xxxxxxxxxx demo]# ./demo

everything works.

Can anybody tell me what could be causing the 'Can not grab mouse'
error? Mouse works fine under X, for windowed X allegro programs. XWFS
used to work for users a few WIP's ago, but it stopped working around
3.9.38 or 3.9.39, I'm not sure. If needed I'll try to figure that out.

Help! We want I-scream! uh.. Full-scream!
