I was thinking that it would be more like the \newSpacingSection command we have right now -- i.e., you'd use it "inline":

music = \relative {
   a b c d
   \newSection #settings
   a b c d
}

where "settings" might be keywords like #coda, or maybe explicit #indent, etc.
