Well, the message was about
/opt/local/lib/libjpeg.dylib
right? so do
ls /opt/local/lib/libjpeg.*
and see if it's there.

Unless you're doing something weird with fonts and whanot, the
binary is broken. No clue why, though. Get ready for another
round of macports, ./configure logs, ./configure command-line
options, and the like.
Are you sure you don't want to try lilybuntu? Download it,
install and download the virtualization client, and boom, you're
done. (or so I hear from our developers on windows; I haven't
tried it yet)
