There is currently no interest in implementing the mode 6 protocol
as it allows traffic amplification, which is a security issue.
The protocol is described in draft-ietf-ntp-mode-6-cmds, but it has
informational status and AFAIK it's not intended for new
implementations.
That does not mean I'd not consider replacing the chronyc protocol
with a more standard protocol. I'm not sure what that would be yet.
