Re: [SliTaz] Cheap USB WiFi Adapter for SliTaz

Hello,

Thanks for your answer, Patrick. At the moment I have no way to access the internet with the computer on which I installed SliTaz (I do not have physical access to the router to use the ethernet connection). I will try to download the packages in this computer on which I write via wget and then look for a way to create a local repository on the computer with SliTaz for tazpkg to reference it.  I remember having already used SliTaz LiveCD, without installing any extra packages, and being able to use the WiFi network "ready" - was looking for some USB WiFi adapter that would work that way, that's the case of those you recommended?

Last night I had access to the router and I was able to connect the computer with SliTaz to the internet, so I tried to update the system (with tazpkg recharge // tazpkg up) three times and the same problem always occurred: when restarting the system, it was locked after the login screen, either by logging in with the normal user or as root, the only sollutions I thinked is reinstalling SliTaz. So I gave up trying to update the system so I wouldn't have to keep reinstalling SlTaz several times, and I went to installing the packages I needed. If I can download the packages by wget, I can try to update the system once more as you recommend, but I think it will give the same problem.

The output of the command uname -a is "Linux slitaz 3.18.129-gnu-slitaz #2 SMP Mon Nov 18 10:58:12 CET 2019 i686 GNU/Linux" - the date and time are incorrect, make a few minutes only that I executed the command, but have not yet adjusted these settings.

Thank you for your help,
Marcus

Hello,

Can someone point me a cheap USB WiFi adapter that works on SliTaz?
I'm a very enthusiast user of free software, but know very little about
hardware and stuff. This days came to my hands a Compaq Presario V2000
(Pentium M710, 256MB SDRAM) in with I was able to run SliTaz by a USB,
but the wifi adapter didn't worked (it's working in the Windows XP that
is installed in the 40GB HD). I didn't have much money, so I need an
cheap option cause here in Brazil the tech prices are high, so I can but
this notebook to work and use it to study. If you use one USB wifi
adapter in SliTaz, cheap or not, please, let me know!

Thanks in advance for any help provided. Best regards,

Marcus
