We use a build bot. So one miss take in a very important update and cooking is screwed up. I think looking at makepkg may help you:

http://projects.archlinux.org/pacman.git/tree/scripts/makepkg.sh.in

The history of this script would be of some great help to developers willing to try the port split idea over. Also we always do the change on a different branch in tazwok repo. That way it will not cause any trouble until its in working order.

Hi Christopher,

When I wrote tazarch, I thought about this issue. You are right that sometime one feels frustrated when he forgets to update all the related libs. But, there are pros and cons of both the approaches.

I feel "To split or Not to split" is not a major concern as long as we have some simple way " to make sure that the complex packages like vlc is updated with all its related libs". Probably, tazwok can prompt out the related packages using WANTED variable or like what we do for linux-*.

Archlinux follows the KISS too. But i know it can be done and still stay simple. And by the way your scripts are not the that simple to follow most of the time.

Imho, that's too complicated. KISS!
