GCC 4.5.1 error

Compiler says :
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

config.log says :
/usr/lib/gcc/i486-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.1/cc1: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
