Oh dear, I just realized that I might have hit the same bug. In Ubuntu
18.04, with a rather oldish (2014?) Sawfish version, the
username/password dropdowns of Firefox are also appearing (vertically)
in the middle of the input box. I have not investigated that so far.
I'm not seeing this on my 16.04 with a new Sawfish, so this might
really be related to a change in the X system somewhere which comes
with newer versions. Maybe I can find the time tomorrow on my work
machine to look at it for some time.
