[Sawfish] issue with html5 datalist element rendering RHEL7 x86_64

We are seeing an issue, which appears to be related to sawfish, where the datalist element's drop down appears in the middle of the entry box, rather than below it.  On RHEL6 (32 bit), it renders normally. If I switch to metacity on RHEL7, it also renders normally.

We are using different versions on RHEL7, so today I recompiled the RHEL6 versions for RHEL7, and it didn't seem to make any difference, so perhaps it's related to architecture or compiler options, or some interaction with X?

RHEL6: librep-0.90.5, rep-gtk-0.90.2, sawfish-1.6.3.1

RHEL7: librep-0.92.7, rep-gtk-0.90.8.3, sawfish-1.12.0

I have a screenshot, but didn't know if attachments are allowed.

We rely on sawfish quite heavily to lockdown the desktop environment and would prefer to keep using it if possible,
