Yes,
CXXFLAGS="-std=gnu++11" scons CUSTOM_ENV=True
or more precisely
sudo CXXFLAGS="-std=gnu++11" scons install CUSTOM_ENV=True
works for me.

I am building this way from an svn.ffado.org checkout, IOW I do not use the
proaudio overlay. I wouldn't know how to fix the ebuild, in case anybody
wondered.
This way to build it is probably a workaround, not a fix.
I still want to compare library versions with the Debian build log from
Adrian's post. Apparently the problem is that the C++ dialect used in
FFADO is incompatible with the C++ dialect used in one or two of the C++
template-"libraries" which are pulled in into FFADO at compile-time.
