Hi,
It is some time I am using my own live ebuild for mplayer. The
difference with portage's ebuild is mine use upstream recommand way of
installing mplayer. That imply mplayer doesn't use the system ffmpeg
but download the live ffmpeg lib.
It is 2 advantages when using a live mplayer:
1) less breakage because the mplayerŝ repo is always in sync with the
ffmpeg's repo.
2) you are not forced to update ffmpeg to its live version when using
the live mplayer ebuild, which give less broken third party softwares.
Recently, I added a skin USE flag into mplayer ebuild and a
sys-themes/mplayer-skins live ebuild. This compile and install gmplayer
with all the skins from the mplayer's web site.
If someone is interested, I can put these 2 ebuilds into the overlay.
