Hi,

Thanks for the video!

Are you using PortMidi or raw MIDI device file build of Hatari?

(I.e. do you give Hatari a device name, or device file path?)

And which Hatari, SDL2 and PortMidi version is being used?

Haven't been following hatari these days but noticed this in my junk email and haven't been on the forum for a while (can't login anymore for some reason).

But I was curious and tested it out on a real machine at the same time as hatari on android and the timing seems to be in sync for me.

Falcon -> usb midi -> linux (fluidsynth)

I turn off the volume on the tablet every now so it's easier to hear that it's in sync.
(there's an occasional random note from linux-fluidsynth maybe caused by linux on my laptop)

Hi,

Does anybody have any idea about the possible reasons why MIDI from
Hatari would be _consistently_ too slow on some setups:

?

Hi

I saw this thread, but I don't really know what could cause this. I
barely use midi myself, so I can't compare with my own experience. On
the other hand some users are reporting correct MIDI when using hatari.

So,
   - either his setup is too slow somehow and he needs a more powerful PC,
   - or there's an issue with some of the libs he uses on his RPi5 that
creates problem when writing to the emulated midi port
- or there's a very specific use of the acia register at fffc04/06 that
would not be correctly emulated (there were some very low level timings
fixed a long time ago to make 'Notator' works, but since then no one
reported any problem). And the problem was it was loosing some bytes,
not playing everything too slow.

What could be interesting would be to run the same test as he does but
on a "normal" Linux PC and see if the same slow down can be observed,
(with someone doing this test having a midi setup known to work
correctly already with Hatari)
