there could be many causes to the hang you saw and having timer-d at boot caused the problem Christian and I saw.

But the fix I made is not limited to timer D only, it's just that the case of timer d at boot was very reproducible and other combinations of timer could cause the same hang, but less frequently. If you can't reproduce your bug in maxymiser, then I assume it was the same cause.
