* Code calls Statusbar_SetDspLed(), but that's missing
Sorry, that is an oversight. It is specific to Previous and indicates that the DSP is active.
* Add defines for magic (mode / mode_wait) constants
I do not understand. Mode is a number between 0 and 3 (you find it in the datasheet of the 56001)
Are there any names for these modes in the doc
that could be used as define names?
and mode_wait is for the timed bootstrap ROM enable/disable.
Enable/disable variables could be bools and set
Why BOOTSTRAP_ROM ifdef is needed i.e. what downside it has?
At least with Previous the extension causes some loss of efficiency because the waiting loop (waiting for program to be supplied by the host) is permanently running.

Appended is an improved version of the patch. This works for me in all cases.

I am considering to implement DSP bootstrap ROM into Previous (NeXT Computer emulator) to make it more realistic. I already have a patch (appended). It seems to have a minor bug, maybe some oversight. But it already works for the most part. Are you interested in this for Hatari?
