The version of mingw-w64 in Debian stable (Buster) is 6.0.0-3. However,
the version in testing (Bullseye) is 8.0.0-1. Bullseye is in a
pre-release freeze, so it should be released soon. If you cannot wait,
you could install it on a virtual machine, or a spare computer.
