I think newer compilers have partly long double support, as C99 requires it. But the runtime has no support to print them. OTOH,

Funny. I have looked at the M68000PRM, and there it looked like this:

 

 

So i guess this should be checked on real hardware, whether bits written there are read back as is, or as zero.
