Re: [hatari-devel] no more sound in falcon ?

It seems also that I don't have sound if I switch from cycle exact to prefetch mode.
I have to start a clean hatari directlt in prefetch mode to have the sound (luckily this is my default setup ;)

I've given a quick try to Doug's demo with Hatari in cycle exact mode and I get no sound, whereas I get sound in Prefetch mode.

Do you have the same behaviour ?

Hi all,

I'm back from hollydays and I've tested quickly doug's impressive demo on hatari.
I have sound.

I don't use Cycle exact but prefetch mode in falcon mode. Maybe this helps.
I haven't tested with the latest Hatari version, but a 1.9 devel version (in the gui in the About section, I can read Hatari V1.9.0-devel (Nov-19-2015)

This version has the latest DSP patch (which I uploaded from it).

If you do tests with Beats of Rage or Racer 2, they both use the DSP only as a sound and .mod music system.
They were both coded under hatari by the time and worked well with the latest hatari version of the time they were created (except for the sound glitches).

Laurent

One odd thing I did in the demo - which I don't usually do - is increase the audio output attenuation using the HW regs for that. The Falcon's line out was just too loud otherwise during sound tests.

Hi,

Surprisingly, DML's demo works with old UAE CPU core, and with that
it does have sound.   I haven't tested WinUAE core yet.

Did you check with old UAE CPU core, too? Maybe it's some timing
related problem?

Apart from that, there were a couple of DSP fixes between v1.9 and now,
so these could maybe cause trouble, too?

I tried ekosys demo with old cpu core and sound works, but with new cpu
core I heard no sound ; that's strange, some cpu timing could create
choppy sound, but no sound at all looks new to me.
