[gluon] All hands on deck!

Hi guys,

  we are now so far ahead that it's finally time to do our first release. As 
such, please download and test out the tarball here, and report back on any 
terminal problems with it:

  We expect to do the release tomorrow afternoon UTC, so... please report back
