Re: [eigen] Any development plan to include a multi-threaded sparse direct solver for square matrix?

Dear Roland,

We were hoping to clean up the threadpool developed at Google, which currently sits in https://gitlab.com/libeigen/eigen/-/tree/master/unsupported/Eigen/CXX11/src/ThreadPool, and move it to Eigen/Core as an alternative to OpenMP. However, the project has stalled due to lack of resources. But if somebody has the time, we would happily work with them on this.

As far as applying this (or OpenMP) to the sparse solvers, I am not aware of any plans. But again, with the tiny group of maintainers, it is likely something that would have to be contributed by members of the community that really would benefit from this functionality.

Best,

Dear Eigen Development team,

I'am a very enthousiast user of the Eigen 3.4.0 library and I would like to know if there is any plan to develop in Eigen a multi-threaded sparse direct solver for square matrix.

I have tested the BicSTAB iterative solver + ILUT preconditionner but did not experience any gain despite having activated openMP (is the ILUT preconditionner multi-threaded?).

Thanks in advance for your answer and congrats for all your work!

Kind regards,

Roland
